I just created a new staging site from scratch on our WP Engine hosting account.
I uploaded and installed the HyperX theme and also the child theme (activated the child theme). I then tried to install the required plugins from the Install Plugins page but when I do, I get this error message:
“Download failed. Unauthorized”
I tested another plugin – Yoast SEO – and it installed without any issues. I then tried one of the recommended plugins – AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild – and that also installed without issue.
It seems to be the only ones that throw that error are the plugins marked as “External Source” in the Source column.
What can I do to resolve this issue?7 months ago WprsupportKeymaster
At first, make sure that your server/hosting is configured to this min requirements:
Please contact your server/hosting provider and ask them to do it for your website.
If after this actions you will still have the issue, please share your WordPress admin panel login details (login URL/username/password) and we will check your webiste from the back end.
Make sure to mark your reply as Private to hide it from the public.
Thanks for your response.
I contacted WP Engine and they said:
“So we have a max execution time that we cannot exceed which is set for 60 seconds. This is in place for server performance. We also do have a limit on upload max filesize as well as memory limit.”
I don’t think it’s a max execution time or files size limit issue though because it doesn’t even try to download or install the plugin. I click “install” and the page immediately loads with the “Not Authorized” message.
Either way, would it be possible for me to manually upload the plugins via SFTP?7 months ago Nick (SS Expert)Keymaster
Probably it staging plugin related issue because I had make staging website and have the same issue, just try to upload plugins manually and all be fine, you can find plugins in hyperx.zip archive > Plugins folder .
That did the trick! Thanks, I didn’t know the plugins were in the theme folder.7 months ago WprsupportKeymaster
